Where did the Primal lifestyle originate?

The basis of the Primal lifestyle has been put together following a deep analysis of the way in which typical humans used to live more than 10,000 years ago.

Back then, humans were very similar height and weight to our typical modern family today, but with more muscle and typically much less body fat.

Life was based around hunting and gathering food to survive.

All members of each family were quite lean, but their body composition changed depending on the season. During warmer months humans packed on additional weight when food was readily available to help them make it through the long cold winters when good food sources were much harder to find.

Exercise consisted of short sprints when hunting for food (or being hunted) followed by periods of walking at a steady pace and low heart rate.

The amount of sleep at night was determined by the length night with shorter nights in summer and longer nights in winter. The end of the days always finished with quiet wind down time around a campfire

Play back then could be throwing spears or rocks or chasing animals or one another. This time was beneficial to increase skills and experiences without the pressure of a life or death situation. As we stated by one of the the worlds leading experts on play, Stuart Brown in his book “Play: How it shapes the brain, opens the imagination and invigorates the soul”, this time also “promotes the development and maintenance of a cognitive fluid mind”.
