Quick Tip #10 – How to Solve the Greasy Mountain Bike Chain Blues

Hi there Rod from Sports Adventure again with another quick tip.

And today’s quick tip is a handy little cleaning tool which is a chain cleaner which as the name suggests is a special device for just cleaning the chain.

This is a great bit of gear.

The unit I have splits in half the bottom half sitting below the chain with a little hanger that hangs around back at the rear derailleur.

The top half clip over the top of that.

In the centre there is a series of brushes that clean through and down the outside of the chains and that together with some degreaser a turn of the cranks means mechanism inside rotates.

As the chain turns the brushes turn cleaning the chain and a great result.

Really finishes off a thorough clean your bike and you’ll no longer have to put up with a rear gear cluster looking like this anymore.

So keep in touch and get out on the trails.
