The Time Poor Mountain Bikers Pre-ride Checklist – Video

Hi there Rod from Sports Adventure

Today I want to walk through to show you how to do it pre-ride check of your mountain bike.

Firstly

Quickly go over your bike checking the frame

make sure there’s no cracks nothing’s bent or out of alignment

there’s nothing loose or wobbly that needs adjusting or tightening

Wheels a true straight and there is no damaged spokes

Secondly

Tyre pressure – check the tire pressure is adequate for where you are riding and your weight

Thirdly

Lube your chain – make sure your chain is well lubed and clean

Fourthly

Gear change – make sure your front and rear derailleurs are changing cleanly. It’ll save a lot of frustration on the trails.

Next

Brakes – make sure your front and rear brakes are adjusted and working well.

And finally check your suspension – make sure your front and rear suspension for dual suspension bikes is clean, adjusted with the correct air pressure and lightly greased ready for your next ride.

So keep in touch and get out on the trails.

Like any sport, bicycling involves risk of injury and damage. By choosing to ride a bicycle, you assume the responsibility for that risk, so you need to know — and to practice — the rules of safe and responsible riding and of proper use and maintenance.
