For me there is so much more to mountain biking that just the ride and the fitness side of it.
Every ride is almost like a mini holiday.
There is the planning – where to ride, who is riding, when do we ride,
Organising the gear – preparing/repairing your bike, organising your backpack, food & water.
And the anticipation of the ride itself.
But there is more. There is the adventure of the ride…where you start, where you end up and everywhere in between. Whether it be a creek crossing in a state forest or a sand trail on the back of the beach mountain biking will take you there.
Unfortunately its not easy capturing this video or photo with a mobile phone or camera on the ground to share the experience.
For some time I have admired the awesome drone video footage of mountain biking and have been interested to have a crack at it to add to improve my videos.
Fortunately for me…my family have been listening to my murmurings and have done the research and tracked down a beginners drone…complete with built in camera…and delivered it for Christmas!
So we have a new addition to the Sports Adventure toolbox –
CODE BLACK Remote Control FPV Quadcopter (GT4165) from Jaycar.
The Quadcopter comes complete with –
Quadcopter & building in 720p camera,
Remote control with built-in camera screen
4GB microSD card & USB plug
Rechargeable batteries for Quadcopter & Remote control with USB charging cables

Replacement baldes

The sales guy mentioned it has range of 80 metres gets around 10 minutes fly time from just one battery.
Thankfully my wife thought to get a few extra batteries for extra flight time.
First Review
I charged the batteries ready for first use but then when I went to use it (which wasn’t until 6 days later) all batteries were flat.
Note: Use drone soon after charging batteries.
The battery plugs (that connect the batteries to the drone and to the remote) are very tight…which ensures a good connection but is quite difficult to remove for charging.
Note: When removing batteries, use a pair of long nose pliers to remove plugs from drone and remote.
Being my first remote control drone (and the sales guys saying when it come to flying a drone “you’ve either got it or you haven’t”) it took me the first two batteries flying time to keep the drone in the air and moving in the direction I wanted.
Like all new toys, I wanted to get the drone straight out of the box and fly….unfortunately this wasn’t that easy. I came across this youtube video from JAYCAR which helped me to get started –
As you can see, I’ve got a long way to go yet….
There are also a few rules to be aware of when flying your Quadcopter
Stay tuned for more drone video & future reviews.
So keep in touch and see you out on the trails.

Like any sport, bicycling involves risk of injury and damage. By choosing to ride a bicycle, you assume the responsibility for that risk, so you need to know — and to practice — the rules of safe and responsible riding and of proper use and maintenance. Proper use and maintenance of your bicycle reduces risk of injury.
